Hello,
Welcome to the SecurePath by Transamerica Retirement Column. My name is Kathryn Hanson, and I will be your Host Columnist, Editor and resident resource in the months to come. I will also be introducing other guest contributors to this column, featuring highlights, trends in retirement, and timely pieces that bring you information on such topics as Social Security, Retirement Planning, Vocations, and Health and Well-Being.
I was fortunate to have made a 26-year career with the Social Security Administration, holding many different positions, which included that of Area Director for all field operations in Minnesota, Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I was also the Area Director for Metropolitan Chicago and a Chicago field manager, and I have extensive experience as well in the Social Security Disability Program. I am now a self-confessed baby boomer who shares the SecurePath by Transamerica belief in holistic planning for retirement--which begins long before you have to ask where your nearest Social Security Office is located or worry about whether or not you can retire at 62 or 70.
I am committed to providing you with timely, insightful and unique information about Social Security and your retirement. One of the ways I do that is through this website where I include fundamental yet critical information on what you need to know before you retire and how to make informed choices about Social Security retirement-- in ways that speak to timing, benefits, and filing options. That monthly Social Security check can be a launching point for financial planning and should be a part of your portfolio. SecurePath by Transamerica financial advisors, Registered Representatives and Investment Advisor Representatives with InterSecurities, Inc., are trained to assist you in deciding how your retirement benefits can augment your income.
I look forward to serving you in the future and hope you find the SecurePath by Transamerica website a dynamic, forward-thinking and practical source for your needs and questions. As in any stage of your adult life, you have the power and ability to shape or reshape your retirement. Employment opportunities, community living, health and long-term care, financial planning--all of it needs to come together. And you can write your own script.
