Results from a national study suggest that attitudes toward change vary sharply, and that differences can play an important role in how people plan for retirement. In the 2007 SecurePath by Transamerica C.U.R.E. Retirement Study, we describe how attitudes toward Change, Uncertainty, Risk and Expectations influence retirement preparedness.
After surveying approximately 2000 American pre-retirees, we found that people 50 and older have much to celebrate. They've learned a lot from life and are generally confident they will handle the transition into retirement well.
But deep down, people have different "personalities" when it comes to handling life change. We discovered four distinct personalities: Venturers, Adapters, Anchored and Pursuers. These portraits provide insight into how differently people might deal with the transition into retirement. Click on each title to learn more about the individual group's profile.
Do you seek out change? Get excited about it? Maybe you consider change exciting, but prefer to take it as it comes. Perhaps you prize security above all else, avoiding uncertainty playing things safe.
